I support market-based health care reforms that put patients and their doctors first and provide maximum flexibility to states. The federal government is too big and unwieldy to ever manage 1/6 of the U.S. economy competently. We must take the politics out of health care and create an environment in which patient choice drives the health insurance market. We must repeal Obamacare. This failed program cannot be salvaged.
One size does not fit all. Education is best managed at the state and local level. I will support legislation to reduce the size and scope of the federal Department of Education. I have little confidence in the ability of the Department of Education to protect our children’s data from cyber thieves or to oversee their monopoly student loan portfolio.
With the highest corporate tax rate in the world, we forfeit economic growth and lose jobs to other countries. Tax cuts will grow the economic pie and create more job opportunities. We must also modernize our tax system to keep up with our fast-growing digital economy.
The budget process is broken. Congress cannot effectively wield the power of the purse without a functioning budget process. I support reforms laid out by the House Budget Committee to move to a calendar-year cycle, move to biennial budgeting, and reverse the bias toward higher spending.
No other economic system in the world has produced the same degree of wealth and opportunity as our market-driven capitalist system. Under the last administration, our economy became hobbled by excessive regulations and federal micromanagement. I firmly believe job creation will naturally occur when we cut red tape, free up capital, and fight the kind of crony capitalism that enables government to pick winners and losers.
I am unapologetically pro-life. I oppose both direct and indirect federal funding of abortion. I support the right of states to regulate abortion within their borders.
I am a staunch supporter of Second Amendment rights. States and the federal government must protect every American’s constitutional right to own a firearm.
