Meet Deidre Henderson, Republican candidate for US Congress in Utah’s 3rd District.
Deidre Henderson is a wife, mother, and small business owner. In 2008, she jumped into Utah politics after being asked to make phone calls to delegates on behalf of then-underdog Congressional candidate, Jason Chaffetz. That assignment quickly evolved into the role of political director. By his second election, she was the campaign manager for Congressman Chaffetz, directing his political operation from a desk in the laundry room of her home in Spanish Fork.
In 2012, Deidre won a seat in the Utah State Senate, where she was immediately given the weighty assignment to chair the Senate Revenue & Taxation Committee for the next four years. With a penchant for careful research and a keen interest in tax matters, Senator Henderson distinguished herself as a leader on state tax policy. She has also served on the Business & Labor Committee (4 years) and currently serves on the Education Committee.
After just one term in the Utah Senate, she earned the trust of Senate leadership and was appointed to chair the Senate Rules Committee in 2016. Deidre has been a passionate champion of government transparency, a strong advocate for conservative tax policy, and an architect of efforts to remove barriers to entry for Utah small business.
Deidre and her husband Gabe have been married for nearly 24 years. They reside in Spanish Fork with the youngest two of their five children. Together, Gabe and Deidre own a successful small business. She grew in in the Salt Lake Valley and studied political science at Brigham Young University.
